Official Video: Uncle Sam - Pioneering Burdens

Pioneering Burdens is one of my favorite songs off Get Off My Lawn. On an album about frustration & struggle, it really highlights what's going on behind the scenes, beneath the surface, and the mentality necessary to push forward. With haunting production from Latrell James and a killer hook from Adam Horn, there was no way we could let it slip through the cracks without a proper video. Enter Alexander Hayes, of KTHN fame. I could ramble on and on about this one, but I think the best thing to do is let you press play and come to your own conclusions.

Who Told You? (Official Video)

This one was a trip to film. Literally. Rose Glen & I were brainstorming a unique location when I came across an article about an abandoned prison camp outside Worcester, Massachusetts. Perfect. The whole theme of Get Off My Lawn revolves around the frustrations of city living. What better way to express that than to shoot the video at a man-made prison re-claimed by nature?

We knew more or less where we were headed, but finding the place ended up being a bit more difficult than we bargained for. As the roads got less & less maintained, Bakari became more and more convinced that we were driving directly into a horror movie. Water was rationed. Escape routes were planned. Somehow we discovered the site before all Hell broke loose. Composure was regained and we headed back to the city with the footage you see above.

Enjoy.

Get Off My Lawn.

I couldn't be happier to announce the release of my debut album. A lot of these songs were written during frustrating times & hearing them now reminds me of how much progress I've made, both as a person & as an artist. At it's core, this is an album about growth, about building something. This takes space, and sometimes you need to fight for that space. But once the foundation is laid, the seeds are planted, and the grass is watered, it's a beautiful thing.

Give it a listen, and let me know what you think. We're just getting started.

The Get Off My Lawn Tour

I'm proud to announce that I'll be hitting the road to celebrate my debut album, Get Off My Lawn. A lot of time and energy went into this, and I'm excited to share it with you. It's not available online yet- the only way to get a copy is by coming out to the shows. I'll have CDs and digital download codes with me at all the stops. See you soon!

Uncle Sam - Kid Thinks He's Nice (Produced by Latrell James)

We had an expression growing up: “Kid Thinks He’s Nice”. This described a certain type of individual, one whom you are no doubt familiar with. These people are everywhere. The only problem is, no one that I’ve met since leaving home has any idea what I’m talking about when I use this phrase. That changes today. Take a listen and let me explain to you what it means when a Kid Thinks He’s Nice. Hopefully I don’t end up describing you.
